Obituary of Wesley Elijah Hubbard

Wesley Elijah Hubbard was born to Susie and Elijah Hubbard on October 23, 1924 in Cumberland County. Wesley was baptized and joined the Cornerstone Baptist Church at an early age. On February 17, 1971 he married Mable Dora Brooks of Cumberland County where his love remained for 45 years until his departure. Wesley was in the pulp wood business for numerous years where he earned the nickname "Stack". He enjoyed spending his spare time working in his garden in which he offered to the community. Wesley cherished his garden and was published in the Farmville Herald in 2008 titled "Beating the High Cost of Food". Wesley also enjoyed spending time at Taylor's Classic Body Shop, where he was always willing to lend a helping hand. On Monday June 27, 2016 Wesley departed his life after putting up a tough fight against a terminal illness. He leaves to cherish great memories with his wife Mable Dora Hubbard, three daughters, Clara Reid, Adell Sims, and Pearline Marshall (Clay); two sons, James Wesley Johnson and Randy Hubbard; two step daughters, Josephine Brooks and Hazel Brooks; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Rebecca (Sammy), Geraldine and Louella; two brothers-in-law, Jessie (Norine) and Franklin along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
