Obituary of Josephine Madeline Rose

Josephine Madeline Henderson Rose, a daughter of the late Matthew Elizah and Nathaline Anderson Henderson was born January 26, 1936 in Buckingham County, Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined the Petersville Baptist Church in New Canton, Virginia. Josephine attended public schools in Buckingham County. Josephine was a hard working woman. During her employment, she worked at the Cumberland Restaurant, on farms, in the tobacco fields, in the logging business and helping people in the communities of Buckingham and Cumberland Counties. Josephine enjoyed fishing and spending time at her favorite store; the Country Store in Cumberland where she enjoyed telling stories from her past and making people laugh with her jokes. She was faithful in taking care of her mother until she passed. On Sunday, January 24, 2016, Josephine departed this life at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, Matthew, Jr. and Roger Henderson; sisters, Christine Gray and Grace Hawkins. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Warren Lee Rose (Frances); her daughter, Carol Rose; Six grandchildren, Russell Gray, Vernon Henderson, Brian Rose, Leroy Brown, Kenny Brown and Jerry Brown; fifteen great- grandchildren; two brothers, Deacon Warren Henderson and Lewis Henderson and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a devoted friend, Lucille Taylor.
