Deacon Alexander Hampton, Jr., son of the late George W. Brown and Rosa Lee Hampton was born March 29, 1940. He attended New Hope School. At an early age he accepted Christ and joined New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and remained a faithful member. He was joined in wedlock to Ruth Pervall of Cartersville, VA. Deacon Hampton worked numerous jobs, with the most recent being Cumberland County School where he retired with 29 years of service. Alex was a kind loving husband and father. He was always willing and ready to help anyone in a time of need. He will truly be missed from his home, church, and community. On March 22, 2010 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA the Heavenly Father called him home. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Ruth P. Hampton, nine children, Shirley Hampton, Christine Hampton, Daisy Thomas, Rosa Branch, Lisa Morris, Bonnie Scott, Gregory (Cherri) Hampton, devoted son Calvin (Lawanda Hampton), Jason (Kandyce)Hampton; 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 5 sisters Mary Alice Gaskin, Bernetta (Kroy) Crump, Carrie Giles, Margaret Brown, devoted sister Frances (Warren) Rose; 2 brothers Raymond (Caroline)Brown and Darnel Brown. One Aunt Amy Liggon; 4 sisters-in-law, Delores (Jessie) Hayes, Virginia Jones, Mary Williams and Betty (John) Perkins, 3 brothers-in-law George (Gracie) Pervall, John and Anderson Pervall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a devoted cousin Lillian Green and friends.
