Obituary of Shirley Ann Jordan

Shirley Ann Perkins Jordan was born to the late Margaret Perkins Harris and Solomon M. Harris on January 25, 1945 in Powhatan, Virginia. She was married to the late Alfonso D. Jordan.
Shirley was baptized and joined the Hollywood Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated at the Pocahontas School in Powhatan, Virginia. Shirley moved to Washington DC in the middle 1960's, where she gained employment with the Fort Meyers Commissary in Arlington,
Virginia.
Shirley gained employment with the United States Army Department in Alexandria, Virginia, there she was employed for thirty years and retired in 2003. Shirley was afforded the opportunity to travel in this employment on work assignments to Hawaii and Germany. Shirley enjoyed her working career and she received many accolades for her work ethics.
Shirley later joined the First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, MD where she served faithfully as an usher for many years.
Shirley departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her home in Powhatan, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, James Harris, Alice Howell, and Gerald Harris.
Shirley leaves to cherish fond memories; one brother, Frank V. Perkins, Sr. (Naomi) of Powhatan, Va; one sister, Mary E. Scruggs of Temple Hill, MD; one devoted uncle, Russell Perkins of Powhatan, VA; three nephews, Quinton Howell, Frank Perkins, Jr of Powhatan, VA and Marlon Harris of Waldorf, MD; five nieces, Cynthia R. Scruggs of Springfield, VA, Angela Booker of Powhatan, Sheryl Scruggs-Cross of Washington, DC, Ella Kelly of Palm Bay, FL and Tamika Harris of Powhatan, VA; five great nephews
and four great nieces along with a host of other relatives and friends
