Obituary of Guy Carmichael Crenshaw
Please share a memory of Guy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Guy Carmichael Crenshaw, the son of the late Dewey T. Crenshaw, Jr. and the late Mildred M. Crenshaw, was born on April 27, 1950 in New Canton, Virginia. Guy was raised in a close-knit family and attended Zion Grove Elementary School prior to moving to the DC/Maryland area. He continued his education in the Maryland and DC public school systems and was trained as an electrician in the Job Corp program.
Guy had a love for driving trucks and spent his last moments doing just that. Guy was baptized and joined the Union Branch Baptist church at an early age. He had many longtime friends. In 1976, he met his long-time companion Ethel "Dinnie" Woodson, or his "Old Lady" as he affectionately referred to her.
Guy was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father and grandfather; he adored his grandchildren.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2015 Guy passed away suddenly in Hopewell, Virginia. He was preceded by his parents and two devoted friends, Willie G. Brown and Wayne Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three children: Quincy Bradley, Shawn Bradley (Tasha) and BreAnne Woodson-Trent (Darrell); nine grandchildren, Brianna, Quincy, Isaiah, Tyler, Zykohr, Michaela, Tyauna, Daryn and Bren; four sisters, Vercal Crenshaw, Vanessa Brown, Dionne Brice (Tobias) and Cassandra Nelson; one brother, Mullie Crenshaw; one uncle, Daniel Johnson (Geretha); one niece, Danika Brown and four nephews; Damien Anderson, Joshua Crenshaw, Marc and Derrick Crenshaw and Willie
Nelson.
His extended family includes: his long-time companion, Ethel "Dinnie" Woodson, her mother, Catherine E Woodson; two sisters, Catherine and Melissa Woodson; one brother, Arthur Woodson, Jr. (Carmenlita); two nieces, Jerrine and Janine Lee; three nephews, Eric Lee, Rodriguez and Domonta Woodson and one preceding him in death, Demetric Woodson.
His memory will also be cherished by his great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins along with other relatives and friends and two devoted, Joe Brooks and Charles Johnson.
