A letter to my friend up above, Miss Rovenia Vaughan I’m truly going to miss you. The Love you’ve shown will never leave us, as a mentor you showed me, how not to judge others but rather, seek out every avenue of blessings that we are able to bestow upon others. Let God do the judging that’s not our place. You taught me many things. I remember when you tried teaching me how to cook, but you found that when it came to my cooking some things are just impossible to do, without God. I’m going to miss you. But I know that you lived a life to live again. So I’ll see you on the other shore. In the place that’s written about in Job 3:17 “There the wicked will cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.”
In my conclusion I say Miss Vaughan if you lived to be 150 I would still say “you’re gone too soon”. So I won’t say it publicly, but in my secret closet while I’m praying for the comfort of your family, I’ll pray for strength that will last us, until we meet you again in heaven.

God Bless you and I am sure He has for all that you did for others. You never put yourself first, never did things because it was what you wanted, but only because it was the right thing to do. So many times we talked and shared I know we will again.

When those we love have left this earth, we still can feel them near. We'll see a picture, hear a song, and it's just like they are here. And when we call upon our faith, when we believe and trust,we know the ones we care about are always close to us. Rovenia was a Blessing to alot of people in the community and she will truly be missed. I have fought a good fight,I have finished my course, I have kept

To the family of Ms. Vaughn:
It is with great sorrow that I learned of the passing of your loved one. Ms. Vaughn was a pillar in the Powhatan community. She was not one to except excuses or the status quo. Her leadership will be missed at many levels, and will not be easily replaced.
May God bless her soul, and may she rest in peace. . . .

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Ms. Vaughan. There was no one like her. Her voice was always heard in the Virginia State Conference NAACP and beyond. Her forceful presence will be missed by her fellow freedom fighters. "Be not dismayed whate'er betide, God swill take care of you."

It is hard to process that Rovenia is no longer physically with us. She was working with clients to send to the Coalition Pantries right up to when God called her home. She was an angel on earth and because of the grace of God, her spirit will continue to be felt within all those she touched and helped. We never stopped learning from her while she was here. We pray we never stop being reminded of her examples of Christian faith. She taught us to see the face of Jesus in those who came in need. In her memory, like Rovenia, we persevere to let God guide us as we do His work for His children in need. Dear God, we pray your child Rovenia is resting in your arms, bathed in your love, grace and mercy.

We were saddened to hear the news of our sister's passing. We want you (her family), to know that she will be greatly missed by the BGCVA women's ministry, and the entire BGCVA family. We always knew when she was in our midst by the way she would always let her voice be heard whenever she had something to say on any given matter.
We give God the glory for her work on this earth, and for the time he allowed her to be in our midst. God bless and keep each of you, and grant you peace of heart and mind that surpasses all understanding.
With love and God's continued blessings.

Rovenia was a good friend and a great person. I think it is entirely appropriate that she passed away during the golden anniversary march from Selma to Montgomery for she was a true believer, faithful servant, and always kept her eyes on the prize.
A big woman with a bigger heart....imposing presence and wry smile.
I will miss her and she will be greatly missed in Powhatan. Truly must we ask:
where will her successor come from?

Ms. Vaughn will be truly missed by the Powhatan community. She provided tremendous support to many worthy causes - one of them being the DSS Employment Services Program. From preventing homelessness to simply proving a new Mother with a pack of diapers, she always responded in a respectful way that gave families dignity and understanding. There were times I thought I was alone in the office working past closing, but if I looked down the hall and saw a light, I knew Ms. Vaughn was still in her office, reaching out however she could to make someone else's life better. Goodbye, friend. I will see you again.
