JEFFREY LYNN MORGAN, 50, OF RICHMOND, VIRGINIA DEPARTED THIS LIFE PEACEFULLY IN HUNTER HOLMES MCGUIRE VETERAN AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER HOSPICE CARE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 2015.
JEFFREY WAS BORN NOVEMBER 4, 1964 IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA. THE SON OF THE LATE JAMES AND RUTH (FORD) MORGAN. THE FAMILY LATER MOVED TO CUMBERLAND, VIRGINIA. JEFFREY COMMITTED HIS LIFE TO CHRIST AT AN EARLY AGE AND RECOMMITTED AS AN ADULT.
FOLLOWING GRADUATION FROM CUMBERLAND HIGH SCHOOL IN 1984, HE ENLISTED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY. JEFFREY WAS STATIONED IN GERMANY WHERE HE WAS TRAINED AS A CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT REPAIRER. UPON RETURNING TO THE UNITED STATES, FOLLOWING A HONORABLE DISCHARGE IN 1987, JEFFREY SETTLED IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA. JEFFREY WORKED FOR VARIOUS HOME IMPROVEMENT STORES AND CONSTRUCTION JOBS IN THE RICHMOND AREA. HE COMPLETED TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK DRIVING SCHOOL IN ILLINOIS AND DROVE TRUCKS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AND MEXICO. IN 2013 JEFFREY ENROLLED IN J. SARGEANT REYNOLDS COLLEGE PURSUING A DEGREE IN HUMAN SERVICES.
JEFF WAS A REALIST WHOSE FAVORITE RESPONSE WAS "IT IS WHAT IT IS". HE LOVED ICE CREAM, A GOOD GAME OF SCRABBLE, INSISTING UNTIL THE END THAT GI (SHORT FOR GI JOE) IS A WORD. HE ALSO LOVED WATCHING STAR TREK AND JEFF'S FAVORITE NFL TEAM WAS THE DALLAS COWBOYS. HE ENJOYED WESTERN MOVIES AND SHOWS, DISCUSSING POLITICS, WORLD ISSUES AND LOCAL EVENTS. HIS EASY GOING NATURE AND ACCEPTANCE OF "WHAT IS" WAS REFLECTED IN HIS APPROACH TO EACH CHALLENGE AND INTERACTION AS VOICED BY MANY, INCLUDING THE HOSPITAL AND HOSPICE STAFF.
JEFFREY LEAVES TO MOURN THREE LOVING SISTERS; LINDA (PETER) HARRIS OF MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT, SHELIA MORGAN OF RICHMOND AND CYNTHIA HOLLIDAY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ONE DEVOTED BROTHER JAMES MORGAN OF RICHMOND; TWO NEPHEWS, CHRISTOPHER (SARAH) HARRIS, CLAYTON DOUGLAS; AND TWO NIECES, SHAMONICA HARRIS AND ERICA MORGAN; FIVE UNCLES AND NINE AUNTS; SIX GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS, AND A HOST OF EXTENDED FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
INTERMENT WILL OCCUR AT 3:00 P.M. AT PLEASANT VIEW BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY, 155 DUNCAN STORE ROAD, COLUMBIA, VIRGINIA, 23038.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO JOIN THE MORGAN FAMILY FOR THE REPAST IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MEMORIAL SERVICE.
