Obituary of Margaret James

Margaret Johnson James was born on December 8, 1944 in Cumberland County, Virginia to the late Hampton and Mary E. Boatwright Johnson. At an early age she was baptized and joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Cumberland. She attended school in Cumberland County. On April 15, 1961 she married her soulmate Curtis, W. James and from this union six children were born. After marriage she moved her church membership to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Cartersville, Virginia to be with her husband. There she served on the Usher Ministry, Trustee Ministry, Deaconess Ministry and the Choir Ministry. Margaret retired from Cumberland County Public Schools where she worked in the elementary school cafeteria for 30 years. She loved her family and friends but most of all she loved God. On Thursday, December 18, 2014 Margaret departed this life in Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lottie Johnson and a brother, Joseph Johnson. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband, Curtis, Sr.; six children, Rickey (Barbara), Minister Etta Crook (Bishop Dwayne), Curtis, Jr. (Tammy), Eugene (Fern), Ida Vaughan (Carter, Sr.), Clara Jenkins (Lawrence); sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Johnson (Shirron); two sisters, Nellie Williams (Melvin) and Ann Mosby (Edward); three aunts, Julia James, Rosa Boatwright, Matilda Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Hester Lindsey, Delores Hunter (Raymond); two brothers-in-law, Eugen James (Joyce) and Lloyd James along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, several devoted, the Ladies at Cumberland Elementary School Cafeteria, Mrs. Fannie Robinson, and sister- in- law, Joyce James. Margaret will be greatly missed but her Legacy will live in each of us
