Obituary of Susan Patricia Langhorne

Susan Langhorne departed this life on March 4, 2010 at Stony Brook Medical Center. She was 76 years old. She was born on October 11, 1933 in Cumberland, Virginia to Lancaster and Ida Trent. She attended Luther P. Jackson High School and in 1951 she married Moses Langhorne. Shortly there after they moved to Riverhead, New York. She was an active member of the Living Temple Ministry Church in Center Moriches, New York serving as President of the Pastor's Aide and Willing Worker Club. She was also member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. During her absence from Rocky Mount Baptist Church, she joined the Living Temple Ministry Church under watch care in 2006 and served faithfully until she became ill. According to her family, she was a loving, caring person, who shared her time with friends and family. She enjoyed frequent trips "down south" to visit relatives in Virginia. She worked in various jobs, most recently as a Home Health Attendant for many years. Predeceased by her husband in 2006 and by her son, Moses Jr. in 1999, she is survived by: two daughters, Dorothy Langhorne of Newark, New Jersey, Betty Pertillar; her son-in-law, Albert Pertillar; her brother, George Trent and his wife, Molly all of Riverhead; her sister, Gertrude Cox of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandsons, Derrick James of Riverhead, New York, Junius Gradney and his wife, Princess Gradney of Norfolk,Virginia, Albert Jr. and his wife, Vickie, Kevin and Terrance Pertillar of Riverhead, New York; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
