Obituary of Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown, Sr. was one of 8 children born March 9, 1927 to the late Benjamin and Maude Brown in Philadelphia, PA. He was reared in East New Market, Maryland where he received his formal education. Daniel served as Chaplain in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received an Honorable Discharge. Upon moving to Philadelphia, PA, Daniel attended the Berean Institute where he earned his degree in Tailoring, Drafting and Design. His artistic abilities afforded him several awards and recognitions. Daniel was employed for many years at the Amalgamated Clothing & Textiles Workers Union in Philadelphia. He was also privileged to alter suits for well-known comedian, Bill Cosby. In June 1950, Daniel met and married the late Lillian Hannah Howard, better known as 'Honey'. To this union was born four children. In January 1966, Daniel received Christ as his personal savior and joined the Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, PA, where he held several positions: Deacon, Director of Social Services and Business Manager. In September 1983, Daniel was united in holy matrimony to Betty Jean Williams. This union was blessed with four children. They moved to Virginia and were active members of the Dillwyn Holy Temple Church. Daniel and Betty served as Chaplains throughout the Virginia area. Daniel enjoyed laughing with his friends and family. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father. One of his favorite pass times was playing Uno and Dominos with his children and friends. Daniel loved the Lord and his favorite bible quote was "Christ in you, the Hope of Glory". He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Betty Brown, 8 children, Cynthia Bolden, Daniel Brown, Jr, (deceased), Ronald Brown, Denise Salley, Darnell Brown, Venius Cooper, Erica Bolger, Nicole Bamba, 4 sons-n-law, Ollie, Rodney, Hanif, Moussa, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of sisters and brothers-n-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
