Obituary of Ulysses Quincy Childress

Ulysses Quincy Childress, a son of the late Al and Daisy Hatcher Childress was born on July 29, 1959 in Cumberland, Virginia. "Ice Cold" or "Hollywood" as he was affectionately known to many; attended Cumberland County Public Schools. He was baptized at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Cumberland, Virginia. He worked various jobs during his life. Ice Cold was a kindhearted, loving and generous person. Quincy loved to watch Westerns and football with his brother, Junius Childress, whom he lived with. He enjoyed family gathering, cookouts, fishing and hunting. He was a former member of the 622 Hunting Club. Quincy loved to dress to impress with his white Kagoo hat and sun glasses. Ice Cold was the life of any party and loved to "cut a rug." He had a sense of humor; he would keep you laughing. He had a special bond with all of his brothers, nieces, and nephews. On September 25, 2014, Quincy departed this life in Cumberland, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerome and Ashby. He leaves to cherish many memories to his daughter, Denise Holman; three grandsons, Damorrious Holman, Daquarious Holman and Demonte Opie; his brothers, Junius Childress (Gracie) of Cumberland, VA, Franklin Childress (Francis) of Buckingham, VA, and Jerry Childress (Leslie) of Buckingham, VA; goddaughter, Danielle Scruggs; uncle, Reuben Hatcher (Florence) of Richmond, VA; two sisters-in-law, Katie Lee Childress and Helen Childress; a host of nieces, nephews, several devoted, Calvin, Rodney, Michael, Steven, Lacy, and Al Childress; devoted great nephew, Carlston Childress; cousins, one devoted, Jerry Patterson, and friends, one devoted, Theordore Dabney.
