Darlene Delois Carter, a daughter of the late Mattie L. Barley and George Jasper Carter was born on June 1, 1947 in Richmond, Virginia. She was the youngest of nine children.
Early in life, Darlene accepted Christ and joined the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Virginia.
Darlene met and married James Faulkner. She then went to work at the Shoe Factory in Blackstone, Virginia where she worked for six years.
On Tuesday, May 13, 2014 Darlene departed this life at her home in Petersburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and a devoted friend, Alice Booker.
Darlene leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Juanita L. Faulkner and Robert R. Faulkner; six grandchildren, George J. Faulkner, II (Dawn), Lillian Faulkner, Mattie Faulkner, Darlene Faulkner, Wayne Hatcher, and Trey Tillard; six great-grandchildren, Diamond, Emoni, Z'yaire, Janyia, Kamani, and Elijah; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, one devoted, Ms. Joanne Smothers of Paterson, New Jersey.
