Freddie Sanford Johnson was born to the late Fred and Louise Johnson in Paterson, New Jersey on November 9, 1935. After his parents relocated to Cumberland, Virginia, Freddie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He received his education in the Cumberland County School System. Freddie married the woman of his dreams, Lenora Walker Johnson, on September 12, 1959. They worked together as a unit to build a happy life together. They lived in Paterson, NJ where they resided until they relocated to Cumberland, VA in 1992. Both Freddie and Lenora were faithful members of the Christ Temple Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ for more than 30 years. Freddie had a successful career as a truck driver working for Athenia Mason Supply Inc. in Clifton, NJ. Upon relocating to Cumberland, VA, Freddie joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and remained a faithful and diligent member until his death. Freddie (aka Junie) was a collector of cars and his most prized possession was his 1965 Pontiac GTO. Known in New Jersey and Virginia as the owner of this vintage vehicle, he participated in a few races and was invited to various car shows and parades. He quietly and peacefully departed this life on May 19 at The Woodland, in Farmville, VA, on the same day his wife and soul mate, Lenora, passed away five years ago. He is also pre-deceased by two brothers and one sister, Archer, Perry, and Mary. He leaves to cherish his memory: three sisters, Louise (John) Robertson of Cumberland, VA, Rose (Harvey) Davis of Cumberland, VA and Mattie McCoy of Richmond, VA, sister-in-law, Christine Mitchell of Powhatan, VA.; brother-in-law, Robert Shearn of South Plainfield, NJ; two godchildren, Freddie Lee Johnson of Cumberland, VA and Carson "Booby" Shearn of Richmond, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, two devoted, Shameia and Jakeime Johnson. Freddie"Junie" Johnson will be greatly missed and life as we know it will never be the same.
