Obituary of Deacon Lewis Anderson

Lewis Nelson Anderson the son of the late William and Moriah Anderson, the youngest of 5 children was born in Cumberland Virginia, on November 19, 1924.
He attended the Buckingham school system. Lewis joined Petersville Baptist Church at an early age and later ordained as a Deacon and remained until his passing. Lewis was joined in wedlock to Annie B. Carter on October 28, 1950. From this union they had 9 children. For a period of time Lewis and Annie Anderson resided in New Jersey where they were faithful members at the Zion Baptist Church, Newark New Jersey. His heart remained at the Petersville Baptist Church where he always was glad to return to.
Lewis was a quiet mannered man who loved talking about the "ole days" and could tell you a lot about your family history. He worked for Holy Farms Company until he was disabled by blindness. He enjoyed working outside and never let his handicap stop his from doing anything. He could put a key lock or
nail on anything.
Lewis Anderson departed life on May 7, 2014 at the Envoy Nursing Facility in Fork Union, Va after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his Brothers, Johnny, Shelton, William, his sisters Louise & Virginia and 3 children Carrie Diane died at a very young age, Harry Spencer and Ida "Sissy" Anderson.
He is survived by: his devoted wife of sixty-three and a half years, Rev. Annie Anderson; six children, Edward Anderson, Lewis Anderson (Robyn), Jennie Mitchell, Agnes Anderson (Rahmaan), Annastelle James (Tony) and Veronica Ellis (Michael), all of New Jersey; nine grandchildren, Nakeisha, Sharonda, Lamar, Shawn, Lewis IV, Tyrone, Arthur Jr., Michael Ellis Jr and Makia; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Carter Jr (Ella); five nephews; four nieces, one devoted, Cheryl Bolden; mother-in-law, Ida Clark (Joseph); God-children, Robert and Shirley Cooper, Don and Katherleen Hatcher; loving care-givers, Delores Liggins, Carol Allen, Helen Miller, Allen Brown, Walter and Mary Brown, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends
