Obituary of James Donikens

Mr. James Donikens went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on April 19, 2014 at The Laurels of Bon Air. James was born on December 24, 1922 in Amherst, Va. to the late Beryl and Lovie Donikens. He moved with his family from Amherst to Powhatan County around 1940. He later in life joined Little Zion Baptist Church in Powhatan, Va. He was joined in holy matrimony to Clara Morris on December 27,1960. Uncle Jim, Mr. D and Jimmie as he was known to many would enjoy God's sunny days working his garden; after his harvest was ready he loved to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Clara, sister Virginia Morris; brothers Sampson and Kinkle Brown, John, Howard and Wilson Donikens. He leaves to cherish his fond memories two sister Rena Hull of Hyattsville, Md., Daisy Hampton of Richmond, Va.; a brother Lloyd Brown of Powhatan, Va.; an uncle, Faunce Taliaferro Sr. of Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends among them devoted nieces Helen Swann and Paulette Taylor; caregiver Cheryl Sims and her family that thought of him as their grandfather; friends Lee Brown, Roosevelt Gregory and Roger Hobson.
