Morris Bruce Taylor, eldest son of the late William Truehart and Lucy Pearl Taylor, was born on January 10, 1948 in Bronx, New York. He departed this life on February 23, 2014 after a brief illness. Bruce attended the public schools of New York and graduated from the Benjamin Franklin High School in 1966. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1967 and served as a Specialist Five during the nation's conflict in Vietnam. He received an honorary discharge in 1970. Upon returning to the states, Bruce furthered his education at Bronx Community College and completed his studies at the Richmond College of the City University of New York in 1975. Bruce, in view of his strong love of science, began an extensive career in the health field and became an exceptionally dedicated and skilled lab technician. Bruce worked for several hospitals throughout the borough of Manhattan, including the Cabrini Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital Center and the Beth Israel Medical Center where he was a supervisor in the hematology department. A true sports enthusiast, Bruce was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan, a true blue Giants fan, and followed his teams faithfully. He was a lover of all types of music and will long be remembered for his impressive collection of albums and CDs. Bruce was a kind, gentle giant with a humble spirit. He particularly loved the holidays, and in recent years, he became quite a talented poet. He most enjoyed sharing his creative work each year during Christmas time with family, friends and colleagues.
