Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Liggon

Mary Elizabeth Liggon, 77, was born on July 29, 1936 in Cumberland, Virginia to the late Curtis and Elizabeth Brown Liggon, Sr. Virginia remained her home as a single parent. She attended New Hope School in Cartersville. At an early age, she was baptized and joined New Hope Baptist Church where her membership remained. Mary served on several different ministries at NHBC; former Sunday School Superintendent, Deaconess, Senior Choir President, Pastor's Aid and Women's Ministry. Mary was employed with at the University of Richmond for over twenty years until she retired. She was better known as "Baby Sis" or "Sis". Mary's found great enjoyment in watching TV Land, the game show channel, and talking about what church she will be attending on Sunday. Mary departed this life on February 17, 2014 at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; sister, Willie Sue Liggon; brothers, Augustine, Thomas and Curtis Liggon, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Anderson; son, Michael Liggon; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister, Mable Lewis, sister-in-law, Amy Liggon, nieces, nephews, cousins along with other relatives and friends.
