Obituary of Ida M Anderson
Please share a memory of Ida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ida M. Anderson "Sissy" was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on July 21, 1952 to the parents of Lewis and Annie Anderson. Ida was baptized and joined Petersville Baptist Church around the age of seven.
She attended Elementary school in Buckingham County and graduated from Luther P. Jackson High School in 1970.
After school she relocated to New Jersey. The day after her 18th birthday she began working at Wakefern Shop Rite in West Orange, New Jersey. She later moved to Shop Rite of Livingston, New Jersey where she was employed until her death (43 years). There she was respected and loved by co-workers, managers and customers. Ida and Margie Allen started at Shop Rite together and would converse every morning on their separate commute to work.
Ida's passion was collecting Angels, caring for her family and taking care of her home in Irvington, New Jersey where she shared with her sister Agnes. Together they mowed the lawn and cut hedges in the summer and shoveled snow in the winter. They were always complimented on the beauty of their property and felt that they put the men on the block to shame. Each season they were armed with every type of yard tool you could name. She loved entertaining in her yard.
Ida had a heart of gold and touched everyone she came in contact with. She cared for her family as though they were her children. She was the glue that kept the family together and the backbone that kept the family strong.
On, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 Ida departed this life at her home in Irvington, New Jersey. She was preceded in death a brother, Harry.
Ida is survived by her loving parents, Deacon Lewis and Rev.
