Obituary of Bessie Penick

Bessie Elizabeth Penick, was born August 19, 1918 to the late John Cunningham and Bessie Criss Woodson in Cumberland, Virginia. She attended Bethlehem School in Cumberland. Later in life, she met and married Thomas Penick of Charlotte Court House, Virginia and they moved to New Jersey. While living in New Jersey, Bessie worked in the domestic field. She joined St. Paul Baptist Church where she sang in the Gospel Choir. Bessie was also a member of Montclair Red Cross. Later, she joined the choir at the Waterview Center Nursing Home. Bessie enjoyed life and her hobbies were playing bingo, going to Atlantic City, NJ and scratch offs'. She leaves a nephew, Orlander C. Woodson; great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memories.
