On December 2, 2013 around 10:15am, the Lord called our dearly beloved Melvin Trent back home to heaven he went peacefully. Melvin Allen Trent was affectionately known as "Huck" and "Shine" was born on June 17, 1949. He was one of eight children of the late Robert and Charlotte Trent of Cumberland, Virginia. Melvin accepted Christ at an early age and joined Center Union Baptist Church. He graduated from Job Corp and later served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Melvin worked for his brother Charles, in the logging business. Several years later he went to work for Watkins Nursery where he retired from due to illness. He married, Lovella Booker in 1972 and to this union three children were born. Melvin's favorite hobbies were fishing and gardening. He loved the great outdoors and was a sport fanatic. He also took great pleasure in reading books on United States History. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Lovella; one son, Loron; two daughters, Charlene Trent and Darlene Lewis (Charles); one grandson in which he adored, Charles, IV; three brothers, Charles (Cleasther), Robert (Mary) and Ernest; three sisters, Barbara Jones (Harold), Darneitha Banks (John) and Carrie (Keith); uncle, Floyd Trent, Sr.; mother-in-law, Lemon Booker; four sisters-in-law, Vivian Trent, Linda Booker, Judy Booker, and Tangerine Booker; two brothers-in-law, Gregory Booker and Morris Booker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
