Lucy Christine James Scott was born March 8, 1916 to the late Roger and Mariah Trent James in Cumberland, Virginia. Mrs. Scott was educated at Bonbrook School in Cumberland. She was employed with the Cumberland Restaurant for many years. Mrs. Scott was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Cumberland, Virginia where she served on the Usher Board Ministry for over fifty years; only stepping aside in failing health. She also sang on the choir at Rising Zion Baptist Church for over fifty years in support of her husband who was a member of that church. In 1935, Lucy Christine was joined in wedlock to the late Elwood "Tucker" Scott. From that sixty year union, they were blessed with five children. The love of her family, cooking and singing will be greatly missed by all. On Tuesday, November 19, 2013 Lucy departed this life at her home in Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Marshall; son, Roger Scott; brothers, Morris, Major, Curtis and Smith. She leaves to cherish her fond memories; a daughter, Clara Robinson; two sons, Raymond Scott and Bishop Willie Scott, Sr. (Virginia); twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, James Marshall; nieces, one devoted, Hester Lindsey, nephews; two caregivers, Susie Robinson and Sybil Gregory and a host of other relatives and friends.
