Virginia Queen Minter, daughter of the late John Foster and Nicie Woodson Foster, was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on December 12, 1923. She received her formal education in Cumberland County, Virginia and later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she made this her home. Through her union to Reuben Winston Minter three children were born. Virginia was a loving and devoted person who deeply cared for her family and friends. She was always willing to help anyone in need at any given time. Her acts of kindness and generosity made her the woman we all came to know dear to our hearts. She studied and pursued a nursing career during her stay in Philadelphia. She was employed at Temple University Hospital, Germantown Hospital, and later Chestnut Hill Hospital where she was a faithful and dedicated employee well into her retirement years. She later moved back to Farmville, Virginia to be closer to her family and made this her final home. She continued to be a solid foundation for her family as both a provider and caregiver. Virginia quietly and peacefully departed this life on February 25, 2013 at Trinity Mission of Farmville, Virginia. She is preceded in death by: one daughter, Diane Jones; one granddaughter, Lisa Jones; one sister, Mary Scott; and six brothers, Monroe Foster, Otis Foster, Bartley Foster, Samuel Foster, John Foster, and Joseph Foster. She leaves to cherish the memories of her life: one daughter, Shirley Taylor; one son, Reuben Minter; two granddaughters, Hykeema Taylor and Denise Bellamy; four grandsons, Andre Minter, Anthony Jones, Reuben Payne, and Billy Harris; one sister, Susie Brown; 3 sisters-in-law, Loveline Foster, Geraldine Winters, and Janet Carlton; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
