Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lillian Wade Lewis, 75, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2013, after numerous illnesses. Born in Cumberland, VA, she was the daughter of the late Mary Braxton Wade and Arthur Linwood Wade. She was also preceded by her sister, Beulah M. Gregory; brother, James Dean; brother in-law, Owen Edward James and a niece, Rose M. Wade. She was a graduate of Luther P. Jackson High School Class of 1956. At an early age, she was converted, baptized, and joined Pleasant View Baptist Church in Columbia, Virginia. She was a gentle soul, well-loved in the community, and above all, a loving mother. She loved to take care of her family, and she lived for special occasions when the whole family would gather. With all her trouble with different illnesses; she was determined to assist in the preparation of the family Christmas banquet prior to being called home to the Lord. Thank you mother for the countless orchestrated Southern style dinners filled with your love and devotion. Left to cherish her memory is the 52 year love of her life, James Lewis; three daughters, Christine Henderson (Ronald) of Richmond, Virginia, Jacqueline McElhannon (Joel) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Brenda Lewis of Columbia, Virginia; two sons, James Lewis, Jr. (Dorothy) of Columbia, Virginia, and Claude Lewis (Aretha) of Columbia, Virginia; three sisters, Louise Wade and Thelma Wade of Columbia, Virginia and Jennie Roundtree of Queens, New York; two brothers, Arthur Wade Jr. (Clementine) and John Dean of Axton, Virginia; one uncle, Alexander Wade (Melvin) of Columbia, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Harvey Lewis of Columbia, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Geddies of Brooklyn, New York and Ellen Ann Lewis of Columbia, Virginia; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
