Obituary of Louise Streat Maxwell

Louise Streat Maxwell, a daughter of the late Lucy Streat Brackett was born January 9, 1921 in Cartersville, Virginia.
At an early age Louise was converted, baptized, and joined Little Fork Baptist Church. She attended Little Fork School. After school Louise moved to White Plains, New York and attended Calvary Baptist Church. While in New York she met Leo Maxwell. Later she relocated to Boston, Massachusetts and in 1958 the two were joined in holy matrimony. From this union no children were born. During her stay there, she worshipped at New Hope Baptist Church. There she served on the Sunday School Ministry, Choir Ministry, and Nursing Ministry. After the passing of her husband she returned back home to Cumberland County and to Little Fork Baptist Church where she served as Mother of the Church.
Throughout her life, Louise worked as a Beautician.
On December 31, 2012, Louise departed this life in Cartersville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Streat Brackett; husband, Leo Maxwell; brothers, Henry, Thomas, and Ben Streat; and one sister, Ruth Streat Mayo.
Her memories are left to be cherished by: two sisters, Minnie Streat Trent of Cartersville, VA and Amy Liggins of Richmond, VA; one brother, John Streat of Columbia, VA; one sister-in-law, Louise Mayo Streat of Richmond, VA; along with a host of nieces; two devoted, Rose McClinton and Patricia Hilliard both of Cartersville, VA; nephews, cousins, and friends.
