Obituary of Barry Walter Allen

Walter Barry Allen, Sr. was born in Cumberland, Virginia to the late Arthur and Mozelle Allen on June 20, 1949. He was baptized into the Christian faith and became a member of Tearwallet Baptist Church at an early age. Barry was the baby of the family of twelve Allen children. Barry began his formal education at Cumberland County Schools, graduating in 1967. He then went-on to complete two years at Virginia State University in Petersburg,Virginia. From there, he enlisted in the Navy where he served his country loyally. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Barry met Delores Irene Berryman. He and Delores, better known as "Rene", were married in 1970. From the union was born Walter Barry Allen, Jr. ("Sparky"). Our beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend departed life on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Preceding him in death were his brothers James, John, Oliver, Basil, Arthur, and Sidney Allen and his sisters Martha Harris, Ada Watkins, Jean Settle, and Jacqueline Armwood. Barry leaves to cherish his memory his wife Delores Berryman Allen; sons Karnard "Skeeter" Berryman, Glenn Ogburn, and Walter Barry Allen, Jr.; sister Georgia Foster (Richard); sisters-in-law Allie Allen, Odell Allen, Lorene Allen, and Leanna Allen; his son's mother Veronica "Ronnie" Ogburn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
