RaSheen Jermaine Sims, the son of Allen Williams and Kathleen Sims, was born July 3, 1973 in Newark, New Jersey.
At an early age RaSheen was baptized and became a member of the Tearwallet Baptist Church where his membership remained. He attended Cumberland County Public Schools and graduated in 1991. During his high school career, he played football, wrestling and was a member of Kee Club.
RaSheen had several different employment during his short stay here; Dillards, TJ Max, and for a short while he owned his own stores in Dillwyn and Cumberland. He later went to work for Home Depot where he remained until his passing. RaSheen was known by many as "Rock". During his adult years, Rock had a passion for helping out in the community and he often spoke of his vision of starting a young mens group; called Boyz to Menz. Rock participated in community organizations; The Cumberland Fair Association and NAACP. He even found the time to disc jockey on the side: he even had the name of DJ Rockafella. RaSheen loved his family, friends, and his community.
He departed this life on December 12, 2012 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, two aunts and four uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Ti-Erra, RaShawn, and Ashley Sims; one grandson, Amari Sims; wife, Alvita Sims; father, Allen Williams; sister, DeShawn Sims; two half sisters, Kim and Stormy; one half brother, Allen, Jr.; one uncle, Howard Sims (Dorothy); three aunts, Shirley Webb (Clarence), Caroline Johnson (John), and Lillian Smith (Marvin); two great aunts, Neater Sims and Lillian Shelton; two nieces, Deanna Sims and Nyashia Booker; a dear devoted cousin, Karl Jackson and many other beloved cousins.
