Obituary of Pete Coley Carter

Pete Coley Carter, a son of the late Doctor and Alberta Carter was born January 27, 1930 in Cumberland County, Virginia. At an early age he was converted, baptized and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He attended the public schools in Cumberland County. In 1965 Pet met and married Barbara and from this union three children were born. In the 1960's he moved from Cumberland County to Baltimore, Maryland, where he lived and worked until he retired. Pete returned to Cumberland, Virginia in 1993 to make this his home. He was a jack of all trades but specialized as master electrician, a brick layer and a dynamite carpenter. He was so gifted that he built his own home from the ground up. After a lengthy illness, he departed this life on August 14, 2012 at his home in Cumberland County. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Azalee Covington; three brothers, Edward, Leroy, and Joe; four sisters, Sally, Mary Jane, Daisy and Julia. Pete leaves to cherish his memory his devoted family; three daughters, Brenda, Theresa, and Angie; thirteen grandchildren; three brothers, Harold, John Lewis (Loretta) and Robert Lee (Lou Berth); one sister, Elsie Brown and numerous nieces, cousins, and friends
