Walter James Jackson, Sr. was a loving father, grandfather ("papa"), great-grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all. He departed this life Friday, August 10, 2012. Walter James Jackson, Sr. was born September 22, 1935 to the late Charlie and Virgie Jackson. He was raised in Powhatan, Virginia where he attended school. After, he lived in Riverhead, New York and returned back to Powhatan, Virginia where he permanently resided. Walter accepted the Lord and was baptized at an early age at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Powhatan, Virginia. Walter was a self-employed logger for over 40 years. He loved going to the track and watching drag races, being outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. He was a founding member of the Powhatan-Midlothian Hunting Club of Powhatan, Virginia. Walter is survived by Rosa Jackson; six children: two devoted and loving daughters, Carolyn Jackson (Wayne) and Gail Ferguson (Keith), Diane Brown, Walter Jackson, Jr. (Michelle), James Jackson (Charlotte), and Calvin Jackson; eleven grandchildren: four devoted granddaughters, Jennifer Jackson, Sham Miles, RaShanda Cheatham and Naveah Ferguson, Jermaine Booker, Demetrius Braunskil, Breanna Brown, Ta'Lisha Brown, Jasmine Jackson, and James Jackson, Jr. and Jordan Jackson; nine great-grandchildren: LaTasia Booker, Jayron Booker, Quantrel Booker, Devin Braunskil, Arin Braunskil, Xavier Brown, McKenzie Brown, Jayden Minter and Elijah Bolden. Walter had nineteen sisters and brothers. He leaves behind five sisters: Mary Scruggs, Maude Britt, Mahalia Turner, Lenell Smith, and Catherine Jackson; three brothers: one devoted, Arthur Jackson, Lawrence Jackson and William Henry Jackson; three brothers-in-law: Joe Taylor, James Robinson and Linwood Jackson; four sisters-in-law: Diane Jackson, Fannie Robinson, Ann Jackson, and Elaine James; close friends: Bubba Coles (Lisa), Putney Brown, James Miles and Powhatan-Midlothian Hunting Club members and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
