Obituary of Nita Foster

Nita Carter Foster was born on April 7, 1918 to George and Lottie Booker Carter in Cumberland, Virginia. She attended the public schools in Cumberland County. At an early age she was baptized and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. Nita was married to the late John E. Foster and to this union two children were born, Neal E. Foster and Loretha Davenport. She also reared two of her grandchildren as her own, James Foster and Shirron Dabney and a great grandson, Andre Foster (Tony). She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. If she could help someone she would. Nita always put her family first. One of her specialties that she enjoyed was making quilts for her family and fixing big meals for them on holidays and in August. Nita departed on her heavenly journey on Sunday, July 22, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Loretha Davenport; two grandchildren, James Foster and Patricia Jennings; and one great-grandson, Clyde Foster. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Neal E. Foster of Baltimore, MD; twelve grandsons, James Davenport (Linda), Thomas Davenport (Linda), Kenneth Davenport (Tony), Maurice Davenport (Kimberly), John Davenport (Muriel), Anthony Davenport, Wilbert Davenport (Linda), Donzell Davenport (Andrea), Neil Foster, Edwin Foster, Shane Foster, Andre Morgan; five granddaughters, Shirron Dabney (Ervin), Diane Davenport, Shelia Foster, Renee Trader, Detta Johnson; thirty-six great-grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Molly Johnson of Richmond, VA; one sister-in-law, Edmonia Carter of Cumberland, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
