Abraham Trent, Jr., son of Abraham Trent, Sr. and the late Mary B. Richardson Trent was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on December 21, 1946. Abraham was reared by his parents as well his godparents Lenny and Arnie Mortor. He graduated from Luther P. Jackson High School. At an early age he joined New Hope Baptist Church. After graduation he joined the armed forces where he met and married Gwendolyn Sams of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had one son Clifton DeWayne Trent who preceded him in death. Abraham retired after serving 20 years in the United States Army; from there he moved to Chesterfield, Virginia. Abraham Trent, Jr. (Bobba) was an easy and laid back person. He loved his family and friends. He was like the super star of the family. He often boasted that he had enough family to fill up a church. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar Racing, family gatherings, and cooking. On Sunday, May 9, 2010 he departed this life at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving and devoted wife, Gwen; his grandson, Clifton, Jr, and his mother, Sheronda Lighty; and an adopted son, E.G. Staton; a devoted father, Abraham Trent, Sr.; two brothers, Clarence Trent, Sr. (Mary) of New York and George Trent (Lisa) of Virginia; five sisters, Demple West (Walter, Sr.) of Virginia, Lucille Strange (Harvey), Ivory Brown, Patricia Trent and Dorothy Spruill (Curtis, Sr.) all of New York; six aunts and three uncles; four sisters-in-law, Rozalin Taylor of Kansas, Patricia Culverson and Rowena Thompson of Oklahoma, and Edna Scruggs of Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
