Obituary of Abraham Trent

Abraham Trent a son of the late William and Ivory Taylor Trent was born March 1, 1920 in Cumberland County, Virginia.
At an early age he was converted, baptized and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. He attended the public schools in Cumberland County.
In 1942 Abraham met and married Mary Beatrice Richardson and from this union eight children were born. In 1959 they moved to Long Island, New York where Abraham was employed as a factory worker until his retirement.
While living in New York, Abraham attended Cutchague Baptist Church and later joined Mattituck Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member.
In 1991 he and his wife returned to Virginia to make their home. He then reunited with Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served faithful until his passing.
After a lengthy illness, he departed this life on July 1, 2012 in New York. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, James, Moses, Johnny, Clarence, and Gabriel Trent; three sisters, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Maple; one son, Abraham, Jr.; one grandson, Clifton; and one daughter-in-law, Gwen.
Abraham leaves to cherish his memory his devoted family: two sons, Clarence Trent (Mary) and George Trent (Lisa); five daughters, Dimple West (Walter, Sr.), Lucille Strange (Harvey), Ivory Brown, Patricia Trent, and Dorothy Spruill (Curtis); thirty-eight grandchildren; fifty-five great grandchildren; two brothers, Raleigh Trent (Ann) and Joe Trent (Polly); two sisters, Dorothy Kirby and Shirley Smith; one brother-in-law, Leon Milton; three sisters-in-law, Mary E. Trent, Kate Trent, and Elsie Trent; numerous nieces, one devoted, Lillian Green; nephews, one devoted, John Trent, Jr., cousins, and friends.
