Obituary of Dorothy Bell Thomas

Dorothy Bell Foster Thomas, a daughter of Richard Foster, Sr. and Emily Logan Foster was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on May 23, 1931.
She was converted and baptized at an early age and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church where her membership remained. She loved the Lord and loved attending church.
Dorothy moved to New York, where she met and was joined in marriage to Edward Thomas, Sr. From this union three children were born, Edward, Tyrone and Tyler.
While living in New York, she held several positions. She retired from Long Life Home Care as a supervisor.
Dorothy always longed for her country life and in 1995, she returned back to Cumberland to her brothers and sisters, and the church, family she loved. Dorothy was a dedicated member of the Nursing Ministry and Missionary Ministry. She loved fishing, gardening, cooking, and preserving.
On Saturday, June 23, 2012, she departed this life at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center in Appomattox, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; a brother, Jacob Foster; and sisters, Mary Lou Adkins, Annie Bee Trent, and Katherine Motley.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her daughter, Gwendolyn Knox Jackson; 3 sons, Edward (Christine), Tyrone, and Tyler Thomas; 2 brothers, Richard Foster, Jr. (Georgia) and Junius Foster (Lucille); one sister, Lottie Johnson (Douglas); and one sister-in-law, Lillie Foster; two brothers-in-law, Willie Junior Trent and Frank Motley, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
