Obituary of Alberta Mary Harris

Alberta Mary Walton Harris, was born on March 13, 1919 in Powhatan, Virginia to Carl and Estelle Walton. She was called to eternal rest on Thursday, December 4, 2009 at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, Virginia after a brief illness.
Alberta attended the public schools in Powhatan County. She accepted Christ at an early age, and united with Hollywood Baptist Church.
Alberta later relocated to Long Island, NY where she married Richard John Harris. From this union three children were born. Both she and her husband joined Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.
She was not only a mother to her own children, but a mother to many others.
Upon Richards's retirement, they returned to Powhatan, VA and reunited with Hollywood Baptist Church. Alberta was the mother of Hollywood Baptist Church and an attendant of the White Rose Ministry.
She was a soft spoken, kind and loving wife and mother who cared deeply for her family. She wi II truly be missed from her home, church and community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Harris; one brother, William Walton; four sisters, Lillian Clark, Ellen Williams, Cora Mae Taylor and Blanche Taylor. She leaves to cherish fond memories two sons, Arnold Keith Harris (Carolyn) and Bruce Stanley Harris (Pansy); a daughter, Sharon Ann Owens; five grandchildren, Eddie, Iva, DaJuan, Shivon and Shardae; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl A. Walton; five sisters, Amy Taylor, Fannie Brown, Ruth Brown, Thelma Hobson and Christine Mitchell; one aunt, Ellen Davis; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Walton, Margaret Manning and Gladys Morris; one brother-in-law, Freddie Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
