Obituary of Aubrey Leslie Woolridge

Aubrey Leslie Woolridge was the first child born to Leslie and Bessie Fore Woolridge in Buckingham, VA on November 6, 1933.
Early in life Aubrey and his family moved to Farmville, Virginia where he attended and graduated from R.R. Morton School. After school he joined and served in the United States Army for two years.
While at a young age he was baptized and joined the Mt. Mirah Baptist Church in Farmville, Virginia, where he continued to support and sing on the Senior and Young Adult Choirs. In 2005 Aubrey moved his membership to Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he remained as a faithful member. He served on the Fellowship & Men's Chorus ministries and the Hospitality ministry.
On June 30, 1990 Aubrey married Roberta Green.
He was a hard working man. He worked for Uniroyal for 10 years, Carbone of American (Stackpole) for many years until he retired, was a newspaper carrier for the Richmond Times Dispatch, and then Cumberland County Public School System until his 2nd retirement due to failing health.
Aubrey was affectingly known as "Woody" by family and friends. Woody's hobbies were hunting, reading the newspaper, crossword puzzle, and singing. His favorite song was, "I want Jesus to walk with me". He was a humble man with a quiet spirit that wore a big smile at all times, even during his illness.
Woody departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Farmville, Virginia surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves memories to be held by: his loving and devoted wife,Roberta; 2 sons, Aubrey L. Woolridge, Jr ( Priscilla) and Derek L. Woolridge; one daughter, Lillian Evans (Kevin); 2 stepsons, Willie Jones (Linda) and Henry Jones (Terry); 2 stepdaughters, Mattie Sims and Alice Jones; 3 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Wilbert Woolridge (Irene) and Steve Woolridge (Eve); 1 sister, Beatrice Kennedy (Hugh); 1 aunt, Flora Thomas; 1 uncle, Edward Woolridge; 1 sister-in-law, Helen Green; 2 brothers-in-law, Sidney Green (Joan), and Floyd Green; a number of nieces, nephews; 2 devoted, Keith Palmore and Ricky Woolridge, and other relatives and friends; two devoted car drivers that took him back and forth to his doctor's appointments in Richmond, Jessie Trent and Deacon Thomas Brooks.
