Obituary of Mattie Emma Brown

Please share a memory of Mattie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mattie Emma Brown was born on October 13, 1931 in Amherst County, Virginia to Willie and Jane Jones. She was called to her eternal rest on Sunday evening, March 4, 2012, after a period of declining health. Emma attended Public School in Amherst County, VA. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Amherst County, Va. In the early sixties Emma relocated to Powhatan County to be with her sister, nieces, and nephews. Later, she was employed at Belmead in Powhatan for a number of years. For all that knew her, she was a fun and loving person, but also had a serious side. She loved the Lord; reading the Bible and singing spiritual songs with her oldest niece, Lueveneary that grew up like sisters. Emma was joined in marriage to Lloyd Brown. To that union four children were born, one preceded her in death, Ray Charles Brown. Emma leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Lloyd Brown; one son, Martin Brown; two daughters, Virginia and Gloria Brown; a devoted sister, Mary Elizabeth Taliaferro; two brothers, McKinley and Glease Jones; two sisters-in-law, Daisy Hampton and Rena Hull; three brothers-in-law, Elton Morris, Jimmie Donikens and Furice Taliaferro, Sr. along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; four devoted, Annie Mae Jasper, Ruby Foxx, Bennie & Edith Goode.
