Obituary of Elsie Henderson

Elsie Cabbelle Henderson, a daughter of the late Charlie Cabbelle and Essie Watson Cabbelle was born October 30, 1924 in Buckingham County, Virginia. At an early age Elsie was converted, baptized and joined New Hope Baptist Church where her membership remains. She attended Liberty School in Buckingham County. Elsie was joined in wedlock to Willie Collie Henderson. From this union seven children were born. Elsie was a homemaker who cared deeply for her family. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her hobbies were sewing and working in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and three sisters, Fannie Jones, Corine Patterson and Edith Staton. On Sunday, January 22, 2012 she departed this life at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA. She leaves to cherish fond memories four sons, Albert Henderson (Emma), Charles Henderson (Doris), Harvie Henderson (Sandara) and Earl Henderson (Mary); 3 daughters, Estelle Henderson, Lucille Henderson and Ethel Tanner; 26 grandchildren, four devoted, Billy, Kenneth, Denise and Brenda Henderson; 24 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Henderson; a brother-in-law, Alfred Henderson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and one devoted cousin Mildred Scruggs and friends, three devoted, Sophia Henderson, Raymond Rollins and Ann Booker.
