Frank Emmitt Johnson, the son of Douglas and the late Almetra West Johnson was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on July 31, 1939 and departed this life on November 2, 2011 in Cumberland, Virginia.
He attended Cumberland County Public Schools.
At an early age, he was converted, baptized and joined the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. After moving to North Carolina, Frank married Shirley Trent on November 19, 1960. Some years later, he moved to Long Island, New York where he worked as a Cab Driver and also on a farmer. Several years later, he moved to New Jersey where lived most of his life working for Sysco Ritter Company until he retired. Frank and his family relocated back to Cumberland, Virginia just a few months ago.
Frank had quiet a few hobbies; but he loved fishing and hunting the most. He would get in his car and travel to Virginia, by himself just to go hunting. Having a good time was right up Frank's alley. He had a love for not just his family but for all people. When Frank left home each and every day, he had on a hat. As, the saying goes, "he never left home without it".
He was preceded in death by this mother, Almetra Johnson; stepmother, Elizabeth Johnson; 2 brothers, Floyd and James Johnson; 1 sister, Vera Morris; and a son, Franklin Johnson.
Frank leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife, Shirley; 2 sons, Robert Johnson (Lisa) and John Johnson (Debbie); 2 daughters, Shirley Johnson and Marissa Loyal ( Derrick), 6 grandchildren;1 great- grandchild; father, Douglas Johnson (Lottie); 4 brothers, Robert Johnson (Irene), Herman Johnson (Barbara), Willie Chandler (Claudia) and Stanley Johnson; 1 sister, Mary Johnson; 4 step-sisters, Doris Langhorne, Vanessa Langhorne, Sharon Langhorne, and Emily Trent (Clarence); 2 step-brothers, Abraham Langhorne and Jerry Langhorne (Darlene); 4 brothers-in-law, Henry Trent (Mildred), Willie Trent (Linda), James Trent( Porscha), and Andrew Lee Trent ( Regina); 4 sisters-in-law, Ann Hobson,
Cornelius Childress, Bessie Walker, and Linda Jones ( Willie); 4 aunts, Martha Johnson, Charlotte Johnson, Viola Johnson, and Sarah Johnson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
