Obituary of Winnie Bertha Gamble

Winnie Bertha Hatcher Gamble, a daughter of the late Jack and Mary Gray Hatcher was born May 10, 1918, in Cumberland County, Virginia. Winnie attended Cumberland County Public Schools. She was converted, baptized and joined the Petersville Baptist Church in New Canton, Virginia Later, in life she moved her membership to Mount Olive Baptist Church. Upon moving to Richmond, Virginia, she became a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. In 1946, Winnie was joined in wedlock to Mr. Mack C. Gamble. From this union no children were born, but she cared deeply for her nieces and nephews. Winnie retired from Richmond School System , where she was employed as a cafeteria worker for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and watching game shows on television. For a couple of years she has been in failing health and departed this life on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Henrico Health Care & Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Richmond, Virginia. She leaves to cherish fond memories two devoted nieces, Gloria and her husband Stanley L. Sykes and Terri Sykes; two devoted nephews, John Hatcher and Stanley D. Sykes; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A long term companion , a cat name "Gurly".
