Carl Augustus Claud, age 75, of Powhatan, VA died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at McGuire Veterans Hospital of Richmond, VA. Mr. Claud was born May 24, 1934 in Cheriton, VA. He is the son of the late Joseph and the late Ella (Eaton) Claud. He married Thelma Claud. He served in the Navy during the Korean war from 06/10/1952 to 05/28/1956. He was employed as a welder. He is survived by his wife: Thelma; son , Carl A. Jr of Mount Vernon, Ny; stepson, LaSalle Lee (Sharon) of Rocky Mount, NC; stepdaughter, Tabitha James (Carl) of Powhatan; 4 grandchildren, Norma Cooper of Rocky Mount, NC, Kristi James of Alexandria, VA, Carl V. James II of Henrico, VA and Joshua Lee of Rocky Mount, NC; two sisters, Mattie Church of Wilmington, DE and Lena Bruce of Yeadon, PA; sister-in-law, Christine Claud of Baltimore, MD and a host of nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 1:00 pm at Little Zion Baptist Church, Powhatan, VA with Dr. Gregory Beechaum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing hours will be Wednesday, November 4 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home, 64 Cartersville Road, Cumberland, VA.
