Bernetta Brown Crump

Bernetta Brown was born on November 14, 1950 to George Washington Brown, Sr. and Kate Bell Hatcher in Cumberland, VA.

Bernetta was educated in Cumberland County Public Schools. After school, she found work as a domestic for several private families. She later married Karoy Royal Crump.

Bernetta was an avid gardener and raised lots of vegetables and very beautiful flowers. Her bountiful harvest was evident by the many dishes she enjoyed cooking for her family. She will be remembered for her delicious pineapple pie and potato salad…

She also enjoyed going to bingo, playing lottery games, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved attending church at New Hope Baptist Church.

Bernetta quietly slipped away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, brothers; George Brown, Jr., Alex Hampton, Jr., John Lewis Brown, Darnell Brown, sisters; Mary Alice Gaskins, and Hannah Gilliam; one daughter-in-law, Telisha Crump.

Bernetta leaves to cherish fond memories, three sons; James Eric Brown (Sharon), Maurice Brown (Rose), Elroy Crump, one daughter; Diane Ward (Michael); one brother, Raymond Brown (Caroline), Sisters; Carrie Giles, Margaret Brown, Frances Rose, three granddaughters; Kimberley Brown, Shaquilla Jackson, Antnisha Jackson, three grandsons; Enrique Farrar, Kquamane Brown, Anthony Jackson, Jr., two great-grandchildren; Jarmari Jackson and Aaliah Rich, one aunt; Amy Liggon; one sister-in-law, Ruth Hampton, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, one devoted, Emma Trent.
