Obituary of Willie Junior Trent

Willie Junior Trent was born on November 7, 1938, to Willie Douglas and Bessie Epps Trent in Cumberland, VA. He attended Cedar Fork School during his primary years and later went on to Luther P. Jackson for his secondary education. Willie joined and was baptized at Rocky Mount Baptist Church at an early age, where he remained a faithful member. He served on the Men's Chorus, Usher, and Trustee's Ministries. In 1956 Willie joined Anne Bee Foster in holy matrimony. Willie believed in working to pave his way through life. He started off working for Irvin Mack as a pulp wood cutter. He was employed by Craddock Terry Shoe Factory, Farmers Co-op, Beaumont Juvenile Detention Center (14 years), substitute school bus driver, and last but not least, he retired from Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). While working full-time Willie also worked on his farm, raising cattle, and cultivating hay. Willie was one of the first Black people to volunteer with the Cumberland Fire Department. Willie Junior was affectionately called "Dick" by many. He enjoyed attending church services and gospel singing programs. Dick was a reserved man that wore a smile and was always "about business." He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He leaves to cherish his memories; devoted sister, Rose T. Langhorne; devoted nephew, Sherman "Greg" Langhorne (Yolanda); aunt, Nora Emma Ricks; brother-in-law, Junius Foster (Lucille), sister-in-law, Lottie Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, devoted cousins, Leslie Junior Smith, Wayne Langhorne, James G. Johnson, Jr. Kenny Brown, and Carl Brown; special Devoted friend, Cleo Carter and bonus family, Sheila Cook (Rodney), Christina Sow (Tidiane), Lekia Fox, Shanise, Jazmyne, & Jmya Cook and two Goddaughters, Aliviya Mayby "Dolly" and Ayannah Sow "Swatters;" two devoted friends, Mike Davis and Edward Trent "Bo", and Walter West, Sr. "Bangy".
