Colossians 1:13-14: God "has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son"

On Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11:02 p.m. in South Bend IN, our Lord and Savior whispered, "come home son."

Born, Alfonso A. Brown but affectionately known as Petey, was born on June27, 1960, in NJ to the Shirley Sims Webb and Willie Brown Sr.

Petey received his education in East Orange, NJ in Clifford Scott, class of 1978. After school, Petey went to live his life as a resident of New Jersey, where he met the mother and early childhood love, Pamela Faniel, and started raising his family from which two children were born. Over the years, Petey, you were always greeted with a smile and love. He was someone whose company was great to be around and embodied a spirit that was infectious. He would do for those around him, go out his way for those who needed him and would give his last to anyone that was without.

The last four years were hard on all those around Petey. However, he fought so hard to be here for those he knew needed him more. He was resilient, strong and even in pain, would smile and show his concern for you; all while fighting through his pain. 1 Peter 5:10 says, God restores you after suffering that the God of all grace will personally see them through their trails and perfect them in their eternal glory through Christ.

Those that Petey has left to join predeceased; father, Willie Brown Sr., mother and stepfather, Shirley and Clarence Webb, brother, Larry Brown, mother of eldest children, Pamela Faniel among a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Petey leaves to cherish fond memories to three children, Al-Malik Faniel and Aneesha Davis (Fuquan) both of New Jersey, Malachi Brown of Indiana; two brothers, Willie Brown, Jr., (Denise) of Texas, William Bryant of New Jersey; one sister, Shiela Brown of Virginia; two grandchildren, Imani Faniel of Maryland and Skye Davis of New Jersey; one uncle, Howard Sims; one aunt, Caroline Sims Johnson (John) of Virginia; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special thank you and appreciation to Kizzy Brown, partner and end of life caregiver.

God's Garden

God looked around his garden,

And found an empty place.

He then looked down upon the earth,

And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you,

And lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful-

He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,

He knew you were in pain.

He knew you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough

And hills were hard to climb

So, he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered,

"Peace be thine."

It broke our hearts to lose you,

But you didn't go alone,

For a part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.
