Eddie Lee Langhorne Obituary

Eddie Lee Langhorne-known to all of us who loved him as "Dennis" —was born on December 23, 1951, in Cumberland County, Virginia, to Rex and Annie Langhorne. From the very beginning, Dennis had a quiet strength, a sharp wit, and a heart that always had room for one more.

In February 2025, Dennis' health began to decline, but even then, he never lost his spirit. He kept that same grin, that same toothpick in the corner of his mouth, and that same soft-spoken way of talking mess that made us all laugh.

Dennis gave his life to Christ early on and became a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, where he remained a part of the church family throughout his life.

He attended Cumberland County Public Schools before heading into the workforce, where he spent years in construction in Richmond. After retiring, Dennis didn't slow down — he started his own lawn care business and picked up all kinds of side jobs. He was truly a jack of all trades, and if you needed something done, Dennis was the one you called. He was always there — especially for his nieces.

You'd never catch him without his sneakers, a matching cap, and of course, one of his signatures Kangol hats. And if you saw him, you knew that toothpick, a mountain dew and cigarette weren't far behind.

Weekends were Dennis' favorite time-he loved being surrounded by family and friends, playing music, shooting pool, and playing cards in his man cave. That space was his sanctuary, and it showed just how much he loved being around the people who meant the most to him. He was always the first to show up for a local car wash, making sure every car was spotless— because if you knew Dennis, you knew he didn't ride dirty. Ever.

At the Langhorne Car Shows, Dennis was a staple. You could count on him to park the cars and shuttle folks around on the golf cart, cracking jokes under his breath, slightly lifting his cap to scratch his head, and just being Dennis— cool, calm, and always in control.

On November 17, 2025, Dennis peacefully gained his wings at Preferred Care at Absecon in New Jersey. He was welcomed into eternity by his parents, his son Brandon Christian Blanton, his grandson Brandon Blanton, his sisters Loertha Johnson and Caroline Crump, and his brothers Harvey and Franklin Langhorne.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his son's Eddie Langhorne (Denise) of Cumberland, VA, and Karon Blanton (Tiffany) of New Jersey; his grandchildren Stephanie Langhorne, Jasmine Noel, Tevin and Amber Langhorne, Kimora Blanton, and Vernice Boatwright; and his great-grandchildren Mariyah, James, Jayden, Malaiyah, William, Wikhari, Maniyah Langhorne, and Kyro Robinson.

Dennis is also survived by his brothers Robert, William (Rosa), Louis (Linda), Reginald (Laura Ann), Taylor (Alice), and Floyd Langhorne (Barbara); his sisters Sadie Everett and Addie Trent; his sister-in-law Shirley Langhorne; and his brother-in-law Larry Crump. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great great niece and nephews and cousins.

Among them, a few stood out as his rocks—his devoted niece Carolyn Crump, who he lovingly called "Kooley," his brothers Louis, Taylor, and Floyd, and his sisters-in-law Linda, Laura Ann, Alice, and Barbara, who were all there for him as his health declined. And of course, his cousin and best friend Wayne Langhorne, who Dennis always said was more than family and Calvin Langhorne who he loved playing pool with.

Dennis may no longer be with us in the flesh, but his spirit, his sly grin and his love will live on in our every memory forever. He was one of a kind.
