Rose Marie Tatum Obituary

Our beloved Rose Marie Tatum (Sister) departed this life on August 10, 2025 at home.  Born to John Lewis Brice and Marie Tatum Brice, the first girl after five boys, she was reared in the Goochland County School system and raised in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She joined the church at an early age and sang with The Gospelette’s and the Junior Choir.

Sister had several places of employment, but she enjoyed working the most for Michael Sparks, CEO of The Underground Kitchen, which brought her a lot of joy.  Her last place of employment was Brook’s Stitch and Fold where she ultimately had to go on disability.   As her health began to decline, she went on Hospice with VCU Health. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, family and living life to the fullest.  She adored her nieces and nephews.  It meant the world to her to cook for them and dote on them.

Sister  was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Brittany Jones, her two brothers Albert and Larry Tatum.

She is survived by her children, LeKeisha Tatum (Paul Gordon), Rico Jones (Lakeisha) and Rosman Harris; 8 Grandchildren, Tyrell Gordon, Tunisia Towles, JaZiyah Brown, Khyla and Kamryn Jones, JaBari Brown, Aaron and Joel Gordon; one great grandchild, Ian Ors Sasvari.

Sister is also survived by her devoted friend, James Brown, Jr. siblings, Luther Tatum of Louisa VA, Michael Tatum (his fiancé Donna Wozniak) both from Woodbridge Va, Raymond Tatum (Donna) both of Richmond Va, Gwendolyn Tatum-Johnson of Richmond Va, Janice Rawlings of Richmond Va , Gloria Holmes (husband Dennis) of Goochland Va, John Tatum of Goochland Va, a devoted brother-in-law, Percell Johnson, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  ~Isaiah 41:10
