Obituary

Betty Ann Stanton Cooper

October 5, 1970 – August 5, 2025

Betty Ann Stanton Cooper was born on October 5, 1970, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Preston and Lucille Stanton. She was raised in Buckingham County, where she attended public schools and, at an early age, accepted Christ as her Savior. She was baptized and became a member of Baptist Union Baptist Church. After marrying, she joined Petersville Baptist Church in New Canton, Virginia, where she faithfully served as an active member of the Usher Ministry.

On July 6, 2002, Betty married the love of her life, Antonio Cooper, Sr. Their union was blessed two sons and two bonus children that she helped to raise. Betty dedicated many years of service to the Virginia Department of Corrections and retired from Dillwyn Correctional Center.

Betty was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Although she was quiet, she was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She most recently found peace in walking and developed a passion for it. She participated in several marathons. Betty found joy in traveling, but by far her favorite thing was spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Betty departed this life suddenly at her home. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Lucille Stanton, a baby daughter, and baby son, who now welcome her into heaven with open arms.

She leaves to cherish beautiful memories, her loving husband, Antonio Cooper, Sr.; son, Antonio Cooper, Jr. of Cumberland, VA.; two daughters, Jasmine Cooper of Richmond, VA, Chante` (Maliq) of Richmond, VA, grandchildren; Amira’h, Ezra, Isreal, Genesis, her dad, Preston E. Stanton of Dillwyn, VA; three sisters, Angela Stanton, Patricia Stanton, Janice Stanton, all of Dillwyn, VA; niece Olivia Stanton of Dillwyn, VA; mother and father- in-love Robert and Shirley Cooper of Chesterfield, VA; three sisters-in-love, Michelle Whittingham (Tony) of Henrico, VA, Sherneil Mitchell (Marcus) of Chesterfield, VA, Alicia Cooper of Henrico, VA; brother-in-love Troy Robinson (Renee) of Dinwiddie, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that she dearly loved. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
