Obituary



Charlie S. Robertson, son of Samuel and Rosa Dangerfield Roberston, was born April 28, 1933, in Cumberland, Virginia.


At an early age, Charlie was baptized and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. He attended Cumberland County Public Schools. After school he moved to New Jersey to seek employment. He worked for Atlantic Metal Products, Inc. in New Jersey as a supervisor and forklift driver.


For relaxation, he enjoyed cutting grass and riding his beloved motorcycle. He also had an interest in real estate and invested in several homes for rental purposes.


After retirement in1993, Charlie moved back to Virginia and rejoined Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was a faithful member until his illness.


In 1996, he married Thomasena Thomas. During their twenty-one years of marriage, he was a devoted husband and father to his son, Kevin.


On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, he departed this life at The Woodlands Nursing Home in Farmville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Thomasena; daughter-in-law, Tina Robertson; three brothers, James, William "Theodore" and Ernest; five sisters, Pearl Robertson, Bertha Johnson, Ruth Mayo, Lottie Smothers, and Gertrude Carter.


He leaves to cherish fond memories: son, Kevin; four grandchildren, Kevin, Justina, Raymond and Alaynna; nieces, Carrie Hartwill (Donzell), Vera Smith (John), Ernestine Robertson Sharpe, Ruby Robinson (Bruce), Shirley Ward (Robert), Elaine Lonon (Arron), Glendell Powers (Darnell), Audrey Strange (Walter), Betty Robertson, Dr. Jeannette Zaykeeah Robertson (devoted niece), and Mychelle Carter; nephews, Jerry Johnson (Omelia), Mark Robertson, Herman Carter and William Carter; a host of other relatives and friends.
