Please share a memory of Deacon Emeritus, to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
OBITUARY Alexander Jackson was born on January 22, 1937, to Mary E. Robinson and Harry Jackson, Sr., and raised in Powhatan, Virginia. Alexander received his education through the local public schools- a foundation that shaped his deep sense of commitment and work ethic. At an early age, he answered the divine call, accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and making Mount Zion Baptist Church his spiritual home. There, his faith found full expression: he was the devoted head of the Male Chorus, a dedicated servant to the church family, and a beacon of inspiration whose worship ministry led many to Christ. Alexander's life was rich in both spirit and joy. He found immense happiness outdoors — gardening in the quiet of the morning, casting lines by the water's edge, hunting the Virginia woods, and sharing laughter and camaraderie through baseball and church league softball. He also loved to settle in for a good boxing match, savoring every round with the heart of a true fan. A hardworking man with steady hands and a tireless heart, Alexander spent most of his career with McLean Trucking Company and the Virginia Department of Transportation before retiring and pouring his passion into his own landscaping business. Whether cultivating gardens or growing families of faith, his life's work was a testament to care, dedication, and love. He now joins in glory his parents, Mary E. Robinson and Harry Jackson Sr., and siblings Howard, Chauncey, Harry, Lynwood Jackson, Paige McFarley, Mahalia Moore, and Cordell Barns— whose spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms With hearts full of love and reverence, we honor the life and legacy of Deacon Emeritus, Alexander Jackson Sr., who peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on June 20, 2025, at the blessed age of 88. Forever cherishing his memory is his beloved wife, Mary F. Davis Jackson; his five sons, Alexander Jackson Jr., Michael Jackson (Lisa), Stacy Jackson, Curtis Jackson (Teresa), and Terrance Jackson (Toscha); his sister, Audrey Juanita Bell; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends — each carrying forward the light of his love, his laughter, and his legacy. His journey on Earth may be complete, but the seeds Alexander planted — in hearts, in faith, and in the soil will continue to bloom for generations. WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you loved me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me please try to understand, That an Angel came and called my name and took me by the hand. When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here, in your heart. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown during our time of sorrow; especially the administration and caring nurses at Lucy Corr.»(Do not delete this line.
