Obituary of Mary Della Trent

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obituary Mary Della Jackson was born on April 15, 1952, in Farmville, Virginia. She was the youngest of eight children born to Ernest Lee Jackson & Myrtle Hatcher Jackson of Cumberland Virginia. She was raised in a God-centered home where she accepted Christ as her Savior and at an early age joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. As a faithful member and tither of MOBC until her health begin to decline, she served as a Deaconess as well as on the Senior Choir and always volunteered her time as needed for various other church responsibilities. A lifetime resident of Cumberland County, she attended Luther P. Jackson High School. Affectionately referred to as Della, she was known to be an extremely hardworking dedicated wife and mother. She worked a variety of domestic jobs but in later years found her calling earning her certification as a Certified Nursing Aide and working in the field as a hospice CNA. She treated her patients as family and often remained in contact with the families of numerous patients after their transition. She was well known, recognized and sought after by families looking for someone to care for their loved one. Even as she was admitted as a patient in the hospital with her own health challenges, her phone continued to ring from prospective families wanting to hire her to care for their loved one. Della was a huge proponent and advocate of family. She always volunteered to host holidays and family events at her home and enjoyed every moment of cooking and cleaning in preparation. She was famous for her coconut and sweet potato pies. She had a giving heart, ALWAYS finding time to show compassion for others by opening her home and wallet in their time of need. To sum it up, Della "having a heart of gold" would still be an understatement. Amongst loved ones, Della gained her custom fit wings and peacefully transitioned on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at VCU Medical Center. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Ernest Jackson as well as her in-laws, Robert & Charlotte Trent and three brothers in law, Daniel, Ernest & Melvin Trent. She leaves cherished memories to a village, consisting of her devoted husband and life partner, Robert, of 37 years. Their four dedicated children and their spouses: Saketra (George), Emanuel (Philomena), Roderick & Shearico (James). Her close-knit siblings, three sisters, Mattie Hatcher, Beulah Woodson and Helena Jackson and three brothers; James (Everlyn), Ervin (Cynthia) and MacArthur Jackson. Additionally, "Mayma," as she was known by to her fourteen grandchildren, will be sorely missed by JaVonte' (Shalita), Shontrece, Rashonda, Dante', Tevin (Tyra), Jada, Sade, Kameron, DaColby, Shakira, Jaylen, Jayden, Alayna and Alanna. And the ABSOLUTE love of her life, her three great grandchildren; Ryan, Anylah and Owen. Della's absence will continue to be felt by her extended village, her Aunt Arnetha Hatcher, brother-in-law, Charles Trent (Cleaster), sisters in law: Carrie Tyler (Keith), Barbara Jones (Harold), Darnethia Banks (John) and Lovella Trent as well as devoted friends, Deacon Ernest & Patty Booker, Ethel Goodman, Parena Crump and a host of other nieces (including dedicated nieces; Citronella Wingo, Allison Jackson, Tanya Jackson, Tracie Richardson, Natasha, Jackson, Brenda Moore, Cheryl Woodson & Teresa Fields) nephews, cousins (including dedicated cousins Alfreda Hatcher, Phoebe Mosby & Easter Coles) and the Deaconess Ministry of Center Union Baptist Church. Miss Me But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rights in a gloom-filled room Why cry for a soul set free Miss me a little…..but not too long And not with your head bout low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go, For this is a journey we all must take. And each must go alone It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And Bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me…..but let me go. Acknowledgements The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us with prayers, cards, texts, phone calls or just stopping by during our time of bereavement. May God Bless you and His love be yours to share.
