I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Dorothy Pearl Miles Sims was born on December 7, 1938 to the late Wilson and Bessie Mack Miles in Powhatan, Virginia. She was educated in the Powhatan County Schools and baptized at an early age she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Upon leaving Virginia in 1955, Dorothy married the love of her life, Howard Sims and from this union two daughters were born, all of whom were by her side when God called her home on February 14, 2020. Dorothy devoted her life to her family; a wife, mother, homemaker and friend to all who came in contact with her. After 33 years in New Jersey, Dorothy and Howard relocated back to Powhatan, VA where she enjoyed gardening, reacquainting with family, old and new friends and strengthening her faith between Tearwallet and Mt. Pero Baptist Church where she served on both choirs and the Deaconess board. Her memory will be cherished by: her husband of 64 years, Howard Sims; two daughters, Deborah and Yvette Sims; two sisters, Beatrice Watts and Ida Miles (Joe); four sisters-in-law, Shirley Webb, Edna Sims, Evelyn Sims and Caroline Johnson (John); two aunts, Mary Jones and Viola Criss; one uncle, Andrew Miles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
