James (Jimmy) Sampson Lewis, 56 of Cumberland, Virginia transitioned from his earthly home, to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at his residence.
James (Jimmy) born September 25, 1962 was the 4th of 5 children born to James V. Lewis and the late Lillian Wade of Cumberland, Virginia.
He joined Little Fork Baptist Church at an early age and graduated from Cumberland High School.
On May 25, 1990 he joined in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy Anne Franklin of Fluvanna, County Virginia
Jimmy was employed with Robert E. Baker for many years. He continued to work even after being diagnose with his illness for the second time. Jimmy never let the illness take away his strength, smile nor his witty sense of humor. He loved to fish and hunt with his brothers-in-law and nephews.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy F. Lewis; his father James V. Lewis; two daughters, Lillian Lewis Greenhow (Troy) of Charlottesville, VA. and Chiquita Franklin of Goochland, VA.; five grandchildren, Blessin, Bri-era Franklin, Jordan, Jaiden Lewis, and JaCori Harris; three sisters, Christine Henderson (Ronald) of Richmond, VA., Jacqueline McElhannon (Joel) of Chesapeake, VA., and Brenda Lewis of Columbia, VA.; one brother Claude Lewis (Aretha) of Columbia, VA.; three uncles, Harvey Lewis, Arthur Linwood Wade of Cumberland, VA. in addition, John Dean of Axton, VA.; six aunts, Louise, Thelma Wade of Cumberland, VA., Josephine, Mattie Lewis of Brooklyn, NY., Ellen Ann Lewis of Fluvanna, VA., and Jennie Rountree of Queens, NY., eleven sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
